In a situation where the cost of hitting a target has become a critical factor, One-Defence has developed Kestrel —a new type of interceptor designed to take down UAVs and loitering munitions.
The Kestrel is an unmanned interceptor aircraft designed to engage small aerial targets traveling at speeds of up to 100 m/s.
During the terminal phase of flight, the target is locked onto by the homing head. The detonation initiation system operates in automatic mode. Detonation occurs upon target acquisition using a laser system.
The flight control system ensures high maneuverability. Additional control surfaces operate in sync with the engines, allowing for sharp maneuvers with large turn angles.
A software simulator has been developed to train operators, which replicates control, flight, and interception processes in real time.
Thus, Kestrel is not a standalone product, but a comprehensive solution for intercepting air targets.
Future development plans include integration with radar systems and the expansion of capabilities to detect small targets at ranges of up to 7 km.
